Circular letter JUNE 1971
To the glory of God and with a thankful heart, I would like to briefly mention what I experienced in India in March 1971. It was in the beginning of February when we, with supplication, chose individual cities and countries for meetings. All of a sudden I said: “O, God, if it is in your will for me to visit India this year, may brother David from New Delhi write this week to invite us.” After two days I actually received a letter from brother David asking me to come in March. I initially replied I could not come in March because I had planned to visit Denmark at the time. Without mentioning my refusal he replied that the dates for the meetings were set and asked me to let him know when I would arrive. In the meantime I received a message that the meetings in Denmark had to be postponed. So there was nothing that would prevent me from going to India.
What we experienced there from the very first day was simply wonderful beyond any measure. It was God’s hour for India.
Many dear children of God prayed to the Lord to send me, but our contact was broken and I had to wait until God opened a new door. I took the movie about brother Branham with me and I was sure that it would be a great blessing. I had to be aware that the movie could cause a problem in some countries, but when I stepped down from the last stair of the plane and I stood on the Indian soil, I spontaneously said: “Lord, you have given this country to us.” While I was walking to passport control a nice man approached me and said he came to pick us up. Soon we found out that he had more authority than officers in charge. He ensured that we could get through passport control without any difficulties.
Then we met our brethren and learned the officer was sent by brother Victor David. God provided us with the right brethren in our team. A brother who worked for the Indian government and whose responsibility it was to check and censor all foreign movies provided a movie projector for the whole journey. From the very first day we experienced how God led and blessed. In New Delhi we had meetings in a nice hall belonging to YMCA. All those who were present but deeply moved by what they saw and heard in the movie and they were richly blessed. Altogether we had three meetings there.
Then we continued to Ba where the Lord led it in such a way that we could use a large Methodist Church for both meetings. It was simply overwhelming to see all the masses. At least 1000 people were sitting and standing and they were in expectation of what the evening would bring them. Before the start of the meeting I was told that a professor from the Methodist Seminary was present and also some important local personalities. In all freedom, I was allowed to present God's plan of salvation on the basis of the prophetic Word and then the movie was screened. Everybody was overwhelmed, moved and deeply struck. The second evening I spoke about the restoration that was promised in the Word of God and I openly proclaimed the whole counsel of God. I also had to say that as God’s servant I could not adapt to any other person but I was obliged to preach the whole truth of God, I also spoke about repentance, about how those who came to believe are baptised and about the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It was simply wonderful to see how the Lord was opening people's hearts. With God's help I did all I could and the rest has to be done by the Lord through his Word and His spirit.
From there we continued to Bo. Here they had a Christian meeting for the first time in a nice City Hall. These meetings were organised somewhat in a hurry, still we were amazed when we saw how many people came. They rejoiced that they could hear brother Branham and experience his ministry. The movie made an extraordinary impression everywhere because everybody could see in it how God worked in our time.
After the seven meetings in the northern part of India I was led by the Holy Spirit to go to the southern part of the country. Especially to the city of Madras was on my heart because in 1985 and 1969 we had large and blessed meetings there. The only contact I had was through La. We could not use that contact, but the Lord had already planned everything. We met brother Banker from Mumbai who attended brother Branham's meetings in 1954 and witnessed great healing miracles. For example, he saw how an Indian man who had been blind for 22 years was healed and how brother Branham told him through the gift of discernment what his name was, where he came from, that he was married and had two children. All over India the name of Branham is known thanks to these mighty meetings and the signs and miracles that God did. Brother Banker drove us to Madras where he organised meetings. The very first evening about 700 people were already present and significantly more people came the next evening. It was simply God’s hour to help God's children who were in doubt and inner need. They gave the Word of God their undivided attention. In one of the meeting I read about 20 Scriptures to answer various questions from people. For God's children in Madras it was as if somebody blew a trumpet and declared a year of Jubilee. They understood that the day came for them to be set free from any human domination, from the interpretations of the Scripture and from bondage. Also here we screened the movie and people were deeply moved by it. After the last meeting was over, nobody wanted to leave. They still hoped that I would be able to stay longer to bring the Word of God to them.
Meetings in other cities were also richly blessed and they made a visible impact. I am grateful to God with all my heart that He opened the door. The Lord has given us our Indian brethren who preach the Word of God, screen the movie and distribute sermons. We are certain that the unchanged gospel must be preached as a witness to all nations (Matthew 24:14) According to the holy Scriptures it is “the everlasting gospel” (Revelation 14:6). Who changes even the smallest detail in the gospel given from God and preached through the apostles will be accursed (Galatians 1:8). With full respect and esteem for every brother who the Lord could use, it is our duty to remain in the Word of God. Brother Branham said: “If somebody leaves the Word, he only leaves people because God has already left him.”
Our God is God of His Word. He will now never abandon His Word and He will not allow anyone to alter it. In 1Peter 1:25 we read: “But the Word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the Word which by the gospel is preached unto you.”
